Side A
Side A is a series of nine original vinyl record cover designs produced across early 2017. Each cover is built as a complete visual identity — art direction, typography, colour, and composition working together to evoke the feel of a specific genre, era, or mood. The project explores how much atmosphere a single square image can carry.
The Project
Nine covers. Nine worlds. The vinyl format is one of the most iconic design surfaces in existence — a 12-inch square that has to stop you in a record shop, communicate a feeling before a single note plays, and hold up to decades of revisits. Each piece in this series was designed as if it were going to press: full bleed, print-ready, no compromise.
Twelve inches to say everything.
The Approach
Every cover starts with a mood rather than a brief. Colour, texture, and type are chosen to serve that feeling — not the other way around. The result is nine pieces that sit in the same collection but never repeat themselves: each one has its own palette, its own compositional logic, and its own typographic personality.
